Having a baby is exciting and exhausting all at the same time.
Having professional photos taken of your baby allows you to capture this moment in time, and forever.
I will help you make it happen in 4 steps
1 We chat
Email or phone, whichever is easier. Tell me about your family. Ask me all of your questions, no strings attached.
2 We book
You decide I am the right photographer for you.
You receive a contract online and pay your session fee.
Your tentative date is secured, as well as all the details for your session (the date is adjusted once baby is born).
NDA is available, should you wish to not have your images displayed online, simply mention this when booking.
3 We shoot
Sit back, relax, and let me guide you and create those perfect memories.
4 We share, laugh and cry
Come back 2 weeks later to the studio for your private reveal, you will choose the images that you love, and I will guide you to create your very own art collection that will adorn the walls of your home.
If the session was done in your home, your private reveal will be done in your home.
If you have chosen an all digital session, your images will be available to download via a link emailed to you.
Maternity sessions are best done between 32-38 weeks. The best time for your session is when your belly is nice and round, and before you get too tired as this often happens during those last weeks of pregnancy.
Maternity sessions can be held in my home studio in Grange, or at a location of your choice. It all depends what your wishes are for your session and we can discuss this together.
Your maternity session starts with a professional hair and make-up with one of my professional hair and make-up artists. This ensures you look and feel your best during the photoshoot.
What to wear
Bring a dress that you love wearing, that is comfortable yet, highlights your beautiful bump.
I also have fabrics and lace dresses, in neutral off white tones, if you wish to go for a more artistic style.
The ideal time to capture the first days of your baby’s life is between 5 and 12 days. I recommend contacting me as soon as you can in your pregnancy with your due date and we will schedule a time to meet. We can then alter dates depending on when bub arrives in the world.
The choice is yours when it comes to where you would like your photo session to take place and will be determined by what makes you more comfortable.
In the studio
Take the pressure out of hosting at home and come visit me in my studio. I am located a short distance from Brisbane City in Wilston. The studio is very child friendly meaning you can be at ease with bringing the whole family.
The studio displays gorgeous amounts of natural light and is temperature controlled between 23-30 degrees so that your baby feels warm and happy which produces deliciously dreamy images. Seasonal fruit is complimentary. Relax in the comfty couch while the older children play in the kids’ corner which includes lots of toys, and colouring in.
Out and about or in your home
Getting out and about with a newborn might not be on your list of things to do so I can come to you. I will bring all my props and anything else that is needed to get just as spectacular a result as if we were in the studio.
Perhaps you have a favourite space that is meaningful to you and your family. Let’s chat about what we can do about shooting in that location. There is a $150 location fee that includes a 20km radius from the studio.
What to wear
Wear colours that are you. Don’t mix and match patterns, and avoid bold logos which are too distracting. Short sleeves for Dads work best. You can go for formal outfits, or casual outfits, but again, consistency is key to a beautiful result.
Style and props
It’s about you and your baby. Each session is custom designed to suit your tastes including props that are sourced world-wide and regularly updated. This will all be covered in our pre-session consultation.
On the day
Your baby is the boss! Every baby is unique in the way they feed, sleep and how settled or unsettled they are on any given day. That’s ok – I ensure we have plenty of time to make sure your baby’s needs are met.
Not everyone considers this part of a photoshoot but it’s very important you do. A professional newborn photographer should have training in the safety around how to handle your baby and ensure poses are set up safely. I was one of the first newborn photographers in the world to test StandInBaby TM – the world’s first fully articulated training aid.
If you have had a c-section I will ensure all poses are done in consideration of your comfort.
After the photoshoot
Approximately 2 weeks after your photo session we will meet again where we will view your images together with a customised video presentation. A variety of packages and payment options are available to suit your budget and preference making it affordable to everyone. Click here for pricing information.
You can decide to upgrade to a baby plan. This gives you 3 additional sessions in studio when baby is 3 months, and then sitting (around 6-8 months) and one year. I do not offer cake smashes for the one year shoot, but we can plan something fun with a watermelon wedge in the park, or some beautiful family portraits in the studio.
