After photographing so many babies over the past 2 years at Isabelle Newborn Photography, I thought about the very first baby I photographed over 2 years ago. Back then, I never published a post about her newborn session, never blogged about it either… I didn’t even have a blog at the time, or a website. This weekend was one of those times when I get a little nostalgic about the time that goes past. And I thought about how my little ones were growing so fast, how those 2 years have passed so (too) quickly. Becoming a full-time newborn photographer certainly didn’t help with that. Before that, I was studying photography, and I thought, that I was busy. Little did I know that life would become even busier, and that learning (in newborn photography) never stops, and that it is such a (an amazing) journey.
So…. let’s go back to that day, when this little girl, with her mum whom I knew from the French mother’s group I am part of, came to visit me to take some photos of her new baby girl. She was so beautiful, and so so tiny. As a matter of fact, she still is, up to this day, one of the smallest babies I have ever photographed. She wasn’t a very tall baby either, and I remembered her Eenie Meenie little cheeks. They were sooooo cute !
I have always been very good with babies. They have something special which I have always been drawn to. Even when I was a little girl, if there was a new baby coming to visit us, you can be sure I would wash my hands, sit on a couch properly just to have some newborn cuddle. Today I have 3 of my own, and this passion still hasn’t left me.
I will always remember that day, when I had to focus on baby while still mastering my camera…. sort of ! Here are some of the photos that I took that day. While my style has evolved, my angles, my light… I still love these photos. Although my angles have changed, they already were what I still like to photograph today : close up photos of baby’s beautiful face.
This little princess now lives on the other side of the world, sadly I never got to see her grow. I would like to finish this article saying “merci” to her mum. Thank you for trusting me ! I will never forget. Isabelle x
A newborn session is best done between 5 to 12 days of age, while your baby is still curly, and has no acne or colic (yet!). It is best to book during your second term of pregnancy. If you would like to book or to get in touch, please fill-out my contact form.
